Mercedes GLA X156 door lights (2014–2019)

There are two very different GLAs, and this page is about the first one. For the X156, built from March 2014, Mercedes lists its logo projector with a single condition: code U62, the Light and Sight package, front doors. The GLA that followed in 2020, the H247, is listed differently: there an adapter comes with the Mercedes projector as well. Make sure you know which GLA you drive before you compare anything.

Which GLA X156 do you have?

  • GLA, first version X156

    03/2014 – 04/2017

    Code U62, front doors.

  • GLA, updated version X156

    from 04/2017

Code U62, front doors. Same condition as the earlier cars.

What your car needs

The different Mercedes-Benz door-entry light housings and connectors side by side
Mercedes uses several versions. Compare the shape and the connector with the lamp in your door.

For the X156 the question is simply whether the front doors have an exit light from the factory. Mercedes lists its projector (A 247 820 74 03) for this GLA only with code U62.

You can read U62 on the car's data card, or let the car answer: open a front door in the dark and look for a lit lamp in the bottom of the door panel.

First registered in 2020? Then check whether your GLA is still an X156 or already the H247. The registration papers and the shape tell you: the H247 is taller and has a wide screen panel across the dashboard.

2 or 4 lights?

Set of 2. Mercedes names the front doors for the X156, nothing for the rear.

If your rear doors do have a factory lamp, send us a photo before you order a set of 4.

Frequently asked questions

Is the GLA 45 AMG covered by the same rule?
Mercedes's parts page lists the X156 by series and code U62 and names no AMG exclusion for it. Look for the lamp in your door to be sure.
How do I tell an X156 from an H247?
By the first build year and the interior. The X156 was built from 2014 and has a free-standing screen on the dashboard. The H247 arrived in 2020 with one wide panel that holds both displays.
Why does that difference matter for door lights?
Because Mercedes treats the two differently in its parts data. For the X156 it lists the projector directly; for the H247 an adapter belongs with it. The H247 has its own page.
