Audi A3 8Y door lights (from 2020)

On the A3 8Y the code tells you how many doors are in play. In Audi's accessory data the logo projector is listed with QQ1 for the front doors only, and with QQ2 for the front and rear doors. That is a different rule from the previous A3, the 8V, where a single code (QQ4) covered all four. So do not carry over what you know from the older car.

Which A3 8Y do you have?

  • A3 8Y with QQ1 8Y

    from 2020

Front doors only. The same for Sportback and saloon.

  • A3 8Y with QQ2 8Y

    from 2020

    Front and rear doors.

Door lights for Audi

What your car needs

Audi door-entry light housing seen from the back, with its single connector
The Audi version: a single connector at the back. Compare it with the lamp in your door.

The projector takes the place of the factory LED entry lamp in the bottom of the door. Audi states that its own projector (part 4G0 052 133 G) is only suitable for cars that already have LED entry lamps from the factory, and for the A3 8Y it names two codes: QQ1 (front) and QQ2 (front and rear).

You find the codes on the vehicle data sticker in the service booklet and in the boot.

No sticker at hand? Open the doors in the dark, front and rear. Where light falls on the ground under the door, there is a lamp to replace.

2 or 4 lights?

QQ1: set of 2, for the front doors. QQ2: set of 4.

The Sportback and the saloon both have four doors, so the code decides, not the body style.

Frequently asked questions

My previous A3 had QQ4. Why is that code not mentioned here?
QQ4 is the code Audi names for the A3 8V, built until 2019. For the 8Y its accessory data lists QQ1 and QQ2 instead. The two generations do not share the rule, so check the sticker of the car you drive now.
Does this also apply to the S3 and RS 3?
Audi's list names type code 8Y, which the S3 and RS 3 of this generation carry as well, and makes no separate remark for them. The lamp in your own door remains the final check.
Does the logo always point the right way?
Audi notes for its own projector that the logo has to face the exit when the door opens, and that the left and right units may have to change sides to get there. Keep that in mind when fitting ours: check the direction before you press the lamp fully home.
