Audi A8 4N door lights (from 2017)
The A8 turns the usual order around. On most Audis the front doors are the easy part and the rear doors ask for an extra code. For the A8 with type code 4N, Audi writes it the other way round: the logo projector can always go in the rear doors, and in the front doors, from production week 42 of 2018, only in combination with code 9VD.

What your car needs
The projector replaces the factory LED entry lamp in the bottom of the door; Audi states that its projector (part 4G0 052 133 G) is only suitable for cars that have those lamps as standard.
For an A8 built from week 42 of 2018, look for 9VD among the three-character codes on the vehicle data sticker. With it, Audi lists the front doors as well. Without it, only the rear doors remain.
Week 42 of 2018 falls in mid-October. For a car from that autumn the year of first registration is not precise enough: have an Audi dealer read the build week from the VIN.
2 or 4 lights?
Built before week 42/2018, or later with 9VD: set of 4. Built from week 42/2018 without 9VD: the front doors drop out, two doors remain, so a set of 2.

What is code 9VD?
Audi's list names the code but does not explain it. You do not need to know what it stands for to find it: it is among the three-character equipment codes on the vehicle data sticker.
Does this also apply to the A8 L and the S8?
The list names type code 4N and does not distinguish by wheelbase or engine. Check the lamp in your own doors before ordering.
Why are the rear doors always possible on the A8?
The list gives no reason; it only says so. It makes the A8 the one Audi in this list where the rear doors are the certain ones.
