Audi door light codes: QQ0, QQ1, QQ2, QQ4, 9VD and 8RF explained
Audi ties its own LED logo projector to equipment codes, the three-character PR numbers on the vehicle data sticker. The same code does not mean the same thing on every model, which is why this page works the other way round from our model pages: you start with the code on your sticker and read what Audi lists for it.
QQ0
Audi names QQ0 for two models only, the A6 C8 and the A7 4K. There it covers the front doors.
QQ1
QQ1 is the code with the most variation.
- Front and rear doors: A6 C7, A7 4G, A6 C8, A7 4K and the first Q3 (type code 8UG).
- Front doors only: A3 8Y. On the two-door cars, the TT (8J and FV) and the A5 Coupé and Cabriolet, there are no rear doors to count.
- Depends on the build week: on the A4 B9, the A5 Sportback and the Q3 F3, QQ1 covers all four doors on the earlier cars and only the front doors from production week 32 of 2019. On the Q5 FY the change comes from week 31 of 2019.
QQ2
Wherever Audi names QQ2, it covers the front and the rear doors: A3 8Y, A4 B9, A5 Sportback, Q5 FY, Q3 F3, A6 C7 and C8, A7 4G and 4K. The build week plays no part; only the 8RF exception further down can still take the rear doors away.
QQ4
Audi names QQ4 for one model, the A3 8V, and then for the front and the rear doors.
9VD
9VD only matters on the A8 4N. The rear doors are always listed; from production week 42 of 2018 the front doors are listed only with 9VD.
8RF
8RF is not a lighting code. It stands for the Bang & Olufsen sound system, and on the A6 (C7 and C8) and the A7 (4G and 4K) Audi no longer names the rear doors when the car has it. The list gives no reason.
No code at all
For the Q8, Audi names no equipment code: the projector is listed from production week 24 of 2018. There the doors themselves are the only check.
Where to find your codes
On the vehicle data sticker: one copy is in the service booklet, the other in the boot near the spare-wheel well. The codes are in the block of three-character codes. No sticker at hand? Open each door in the dark: where a white light falls on the ground, there is a lamp a projector can replace.
