Ambient lighting for your Audi: wireless, in 2 minutes

Give your Audi a soft, premium glow at night, without wiring or a dealer visit. On many Audis, factory ambient lighting is an option, so whether your car has it depends on model, year and equipment. If yours has none, or only a basic version, wireless RGB LED lights add it in about two minutes. View the wireless ambient lighting.

  • No wiring, no modifications: nothing is connected to your Audi's electrics.
  • 8 RGB colours and several lighting modes, switched with the included remote.
  • USB-C rechargeable: every light has its own battery.
  • Set of 2 or 4: light one zone, or the footwells and doors together.
  • Fits virtually any Audi, whatever its model or age.

1. Does your Audi have factory ambient lighting?

What we could verify from Audi sources:

  • Contour/ambient lighting package: Audi's multicolour interior lighting. It lights contours and surfaces in up to 30 colours, chosen in the MMI. Audi notes that, depending on the model, such features can be a paid option (Audi explanatory videos for the A8 and Q3).
  • Q3 ambient lighting package (Audi UK): the Q3's standard interior lighting, including footwell lighting, uses preset colour profiles. With the package you choose your own profile from up to 30 colours via Audi drive select, for example for the contour lighting in the front and rear doors, the sides of the front centre console and an illuminated quattro logo or Audi rings on the passenger side of the dashboard.
  • A3 update (2025 model year): Audi lists an ambient light package as standard, with light accents in the doors and footwells, contour lighting around the centre console and illuminated cupholders. Extra lighting elements and contour lighting on the dashboard and door sills are optional.
  • New Q3 (2025): lighting packages called ambient light package plus and pro, with indirect light beneath the MMI panoramic display and in the doors, 30 colours and optional large-area lighting of the front doors.

Not sure what your Audi has? An Audi dealer can look up its factory equipment from the VIN. Wireless lights add a glow where your Audi has none, or more colour where it only has basic lighting, for example in the door pockets, in the rear or in an older Audi without a lighting package.

Add the ambient lights to your Audi.

2. Where the lights look best in an Audi

  • Footwells: under the dashboard edge, pointing at the floor. In the driver's footwell, fit the light high up, well away from the pedals.
  • Door pockets: in or under the door pocket, so the light washes over the door trim.
  • Centre console and cupholders: along the sides of the console or under the edge of the armrest, pointing down.
  • Lower edge of the dashboard: low down and pointing down, so the light falls on the surface instead of towards you.

Rule of thumb: you should see the glow, not the light itself.

Where not to place them:

  • Not on or near airbags: the steering wheel, the passenger side of the dashboard, the seat sides, and the doors and pillars where side and curtain airbags deploy. Your owner's manual shows where they are.
  • Not in your line of sight: not on top of the dashboard, not next to the instrument cluster or the central display, and not where the light reflects in the windscreen or side windows.
  • Not near the pedals, and make sure no light can come loose.

3. Fitting in 2 minutes

  1. Charge: charge the lights via USB-C before first use.
  2. Clean: wipe the spot with a damp cloth, remove grease with a little isopropyl alcohol or a mild interior cleaner, and let it dry completely.
  3. Place: check the position and direction in the dark, then fix the light. On leather or Alcantara, try a hidden spot first.
  4. Switch on: use the remote to switch the lights on and choose a colour and mode.

As with every order, you enter your Audi model and year in the order field. If in doubt, you can always send us a photo.

4. Questions from Audi drivers

  • Set of 2 or 4 for my Audi? A set of 2 is enough for one zone, such as the front footwells or the centre console. A set of 4 adds the doors or the rear for an all-round look.
  • How do I charge them? Via USB-C, the connector most current phones use. Charge them indoors or from a USB port in your Audi, only while parked.
  • Will they drain my Audi's battery? No. Each light runs on its own rechargeable battery and is not connected to the car.
  • Will they damage the interior? Nothing is drilled or cut and no trim comes off. Fit them on a clean, dry surface and try a hidden spot first on leather or Alcantara.
  • Can I use them while driving? Keep it subtle: cabin light can reflect in the windscreen and affect your night vision. Set a calm, steady colour before you drive off and switch the lights off if they distract you. Rules differ per country, but interior light must never dazzle or distract the driver.
