Wheel center caps for the Mercedes-Benz GLC: 75 mm, how to check and replace
The Mercedes-Benz GLC is a popular Mercedes SUV, and its wheel center caps get a hard time from salt, car washes and the occasional gravel track. On GLC models with Mercedes-Benz alloy wheels a 75 mm cap is common, but the wheel decides, not the model. Here is how to recognise your GLC and check and replace the caps.
Which GLC do you have?
- GLC X254 (from 2022). The second GLC, with a large portrait-format touchscreen in the centre console, like the C-Class W206 it is based on.
- GLC X253 (2015–2022). The first GLC, with round air vents and a freestanding screen above the centre console.
Both are also available as a GLC Coupé with a sloping roof. On these generations, 75 mm is a common cap size on Mercedes-Benz alloy wheels. Special wheel designs can differ, so check your own cap.
Typical wheel situations on the GLC
- Large AMG wheels. Many GLCs run on large AMG Line wheels. The wheel diameter does not set the cap size; the opening for the cap does.
- Towing and all-season use. A GLC is often a tow car and an everyday car in one, so caps fade or get damaged. A set of four keeps all wheels matching.
- Winter wheels. Many owners use a smaller winter wheel. Genuine Mercedes-Benz winter alloys can take this cap; aftermarket winter wheels usually have their own caps.
Measure before you order
Measure the outer diameter of your current cap across the front, from edge to edge at the widest point. If the cap is missing, measure the round opening in the wheel. 75 mm means this set fits; clearly more or less means it is not the right set for that wheel. The full explanation is in our 75 mm measuring guide.
Fitting in four steps
- Clean the area around the old cap, so you do not drag grit across the paint.
- Lever the old cap out with a plastic pry tool or a flat screwdriver wrapped in tape, working round the edge until the clips let go.
- Check that the opening is clean and dry.
- Line the logo up (for example with the valve) and press the new cap in evenly with your palm until the clips snap in. No tools needed.
Questions about the GLC
I have a GLC Coupé. Is that different?
Not in principle. The body style does not decide the cap size; the wheel does. Measure the outer diameter.
My GLC has 20-inch AMG wheels. Will these fit?
Wheel size alone does not tell you. Many AMG wheels use a 75 mm cap; if yours measures 75 mm across the front, this set fits.
Are the caps the same as on the C-Class?
75 mm is common on Mercedes-Benz alloys of both, but what counts is the wheel on your car.
