Wheel center caps for the Mercedes-Benz GLA: 75 mm, how to check and replace

The Mercedes-Benz GLA is the compact SUV in the range, and it shares a lot with the A-Class, including the wheel center caps on many cars. On GLA models with Mercedes-Benz alloy wheels a 75 mm cap is common, but the wheel decides, not the model. Here is how to recognise your GLA and check and replace the caps.

Which GLA do you have?

  • GLA H247 (from 2020). The second GLA: taller and more of an SUV, with two screens under one glass panel and turbine-style air vents.
  • GLA X156 (2014–2019). The first GLA: lower, more like a raised hatchback, with a freestanding screen on the dashboard.

On both generations, 75 mm is a common cap size on Mercedes-Benz alloy wheels. Special wheel designs can differ, so check your own cap.

Typical wheel situations on the GLA

  • Larger wheels than the A-Class. As an SUV, the GLA often has larger wheels. That does not change the cap: what counts is the opening for the cap, not the wheel diameter.
  • AMG Line and Mercedes-AMG. AMG Line cars and the Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 and GLA 45 have AMG wheel designs. Many of them use a 75 mm cap, but measure to be sure.
  • Gravel roads and car parks. Caps on a car that is used every day, in all weathers, fade or get damaged. A set of four keeps all wheels matching.

Measure before you order

Measure the outer diameter of your current cap across the front, from edge to edge at the widest point. If the cap is missing, measure the round opening in the wheel. 75 mm means this set fits; clearly more or less means it is not the right set for that wheel. The full explanation is in our 75 mm measuring guide.

Fitting in four steps

  1. Clean the area around the old cap, so you do not drag grit across the paint.
  2. Lever the old cap out with a plastic pry tool or a flat screwdriver wrapped in tape, working round the edge until the clips let go.
  3. Check that the opening is clean and dry.
  4. Line the logo up (for example with the valve) and press the new cap in evenly with your palm until the clips snap in. No tools needed.

Questions about the GLA

Does the GLA use the same caps as the A-Class?
75 mm is common on Mercedes-Benz alloys of both models, but we never assume it from the model. Measure the cap on your own wheel.

My GLA has 19-inch wheels. Do I need bigger caps?
No. The cap size does not grow with the wheel. If your current cap is 75 mm across the front, this set fits.

My winter wheels are aftermarket. Can I use these?
Usually not. Aftermarket wheels come with their own caps in their own size.
