Wheel center caps for the Mercedes-Benz E-Class: 75 mm, how to check and replace
An E-Class often covers a lot of kilometres, as a family car or a company car, and after a few years the wheel center caps can look tired. On Mercedes-Benz E-Class cars with Mercedes-Benz alloy wheels, a 75 mm cap is common. Whether it fits your car depends on the wheel, so here is how to recognise your E-Class and check and replace the caps.
Which E-Class do you have?
- E-Class W214 (from 2023). Saloon and estate (S214), with a large central screen and, as an option, a separate screen for the front passenger.
- E-Class W213 (2016–2022). Saloon (W213) and estate (S213); many cars have two displays under one wide glass panel. The two-door coupé and cabriolet of this period are the C238 and A238 (2017–2022).
On these generations, 75 mm is a common cap size on Mercedes-Benz alloy wheels. Older E-Class generations such as the W212 (2009–2015) and special wheel designs can differ, so check your own cap.
Typical wheel situations on the E-Class
- Many wheel designs. Between trims, AMG Line and the All-Terrain estate, the E-Class comes on a wide range of Mercedes-Benz and AMG wheels. The cap size belongs to the wheel, not the trim.
- Lease and company cars. At the end of a lease or before selling, missing or faded caps are a cheap thing to put right.
- Winter wheels. Genuine Mercedes-Benz winter alloys can take this cap; aftermarket winter wheels usually have their own caps in their own size.
Measure before you order
Measure the outer diameter of your current cap across the front, from edge to edge at the widest point. If the cap is missing, measure the round opening in the wheel. 75 mm means this set fits; clearly more or less means it is not the right set for that wheel. The full explanation is in our 75 mm measuring guide.
Fitting in four steps
- Clean the area around the old cap, so you do not drag grit across the paint.
- Lever the old cap out with a plastic pry tool or a flat screwdriver wrapped in tape, working round the edge until the clips let go.
- Check that the opening is clean and dry.
- Line the logo up (for example with the valve) and press the new cap in evenly with your palm until the clips snap in. No tools needed.
Questions about the E-Class
My E-Class is an All-Terrain. Does that change anything?
Not the principle. The All-Terrain has its own wheel designs, but what counts is the cap on your wheel. Measure the outer diameter.
I have an older W212. Will these fit?
Possibly. We do not make a general claim for older generations, so measure the cap: if it is 75 mm, this set fits.
Does an E 63 AMG take the same caps?
That depends on the wheel fitted. Some AMG wheels use a 75 mm cap, others may not. Measuring tells you for sure.
