Wheel center caps for the Mercedes-Benz CLS: 75 mm, how to check and replace

The Mercedes-Benz CLS is all about its shape, and the wheels are a big part of that. On CLS models with Mercedes-Benz alloy wheels a 75 mm center cap is common, but the wheel decides, not the model. Here is how to recognise your CLS and check and replace the caps.

Which CLS do you have?

  • CLS C257 (from 2018). The third CLS, a four-door coupé with smoother lines and two screens under one wide glass panel.
  • CLS C218 (2011–2018). The second CLS, also a four-door coupé with frameless side windows, and also sold as a Shooting Brake (X218).

On these generations, 75 mm is a common cap size on Mercedes-Benz alloy wheels. The first CLS (C219) and special wheel designs can differ, so check your own cap.

Typical wheel situations on the CLS

  • Large AMG wheels. Many CLS cars run on large AMG Line or AMG wheels. The size of the wheel does not set the size of the cap: the opening for the cap does.
  • Mercedes-AMG versions. The AMG versions of the CLS have their own AMG wheel designs, which may use a different cap. Measure before you order.
  • Older cars, faded caps. On a C218 that has seen many winters, the caps are often the first part to look old. A new set of four is a quick fix.

Measure before you order

Measure the outer diameter of your current cap across the front, from edge to edge at the widest point. If the cap is missing, measure the round opening in the wheel. 75 mm means this set fits; clearly more or less means it is not the right set for that wheel. The full explanation is in our 75 mm measuring guide.

Fitting in four steps

  1. Clean the area around the old cap, so you do not drag grit across the paint.
  2. Lever the old cap out with a plastic pry tool or a flat screwdriver wrapped in tape, working round the edge until the clips let go.
  3. Check that the opening is clean and dry.
  4. Line the logo up (for example with the valve) and press the new cap in evenly with your palm until the clips snap in. No tools needed.

Questions about the CLS

My CLS is a Shooting Brake. Is that different?
Not in principle. The body style does not decide the cap size; the wheel does. Measure the outer diameter.

I have the first CLS (C219). Will these fit?
We do not make a general claim for that generation. Measure your cap: if it is 75 mm across the front, this set fits.

Do I need special tools?
No. Something to lever the old cap out carefully, and your hand to click the new ones in.

Ordering

When you order, enter your car model and year in the order field; we check it and send the right item. If in doubt, send us a photo of your wheel and we will help you check.
